About Me
I have earned my Bachelor's in Sport Management with a minor in Economics and a concentration in Sport Facility and Event Management at SUNY Cortland. My goal is to one day work in the sport industry from the operational stand point and to help put on events at the high school, collegiate, or professional level. I have taken advantage of internships and job opportunities with Syracuse University's Athletic Marketing Department, in the Syracuse Met's ticket office and as an Event Manager for Cortland Athletics. With these and other experiences, I am confident that I have been able to further develop my communication, organizational, conflict resolution skills and others as I progress towards entering the career field.
Education
What I’ve Learned and Some Work Examples

SUNY Cortland
The Sport Management Department combines a passion for sport with a well-developed understanding of the complexities of the business enterprise. This department provides formal educational foundation and the practical experiences necessary to gain access to a career in this extremely competitive industry.
The Sport Management Department, is based on a theory-to-practice model of learning in which students are engaged in over 120 hours of field experience prior to their required senior internship.

Turkey Games
The capstone course to the Event and Facility Management Minor, groups are required to create a campus or community event to understand and develop necessary skills for event management. In this case my group created a basketball tournament that was played prior to Thanksgiving Break, called Turkey Games.

Strides for a Cure 5K
A creation of an event and the marketing plan that would be put in place to promote.
My Work Experience
Background & Expertise
April 2021 - Present
Assistant Director of Operations
In my position as part of the Miners' front office, I was able to work along side the Director of Operations to prepare, maintain and close Rent One Park. Some of these responsibilities included overseeing stadium cleanliness and appropriate set up/tear down for Miners' baseball games, Canadian Wild softball games, and other events hosted at the stadium, including use of the banquet hall. While I was brought on after the process of hiring interns, I was able to assist in the hiring process and supervision of gameday concession staff and cleaning crew. A few common tasks included guiding and working with the Operations interns to meet day-to-day and seasonal goals. And keeping an up-to-date inventory of stadium supplies and food/beverage, including the purchasing of needed inventory. As is common with Minor League and Independent League baseball, I also shared the responsibility of preparing the field for batting practices, games, and general maintenance. This required a strong line of communication between the Clubhouse Manager to meet the needs of the teams.

Some independent responsibilities that I took on over the course of the season included being the main bridge between the work of the Promotion and Production departments to help meet their goals and provide a first rate entertainment venue for fans during any events hosted at the facility. As mentioned before, one task was preparing and maintaining the field of play, which included regular brushing of the turf and adding material to high traffic areas such as the pitchers mound and areas around the bases. This has led me to discover an interest in Turf Management and one I hope to further explore with my next step forward in my career.

Jan. 2020 - March 2020
Athletic Facilities Intern
Prior to the Covid-19 shutdown, I had the opportunity to work in the Facilities and Game Operations section of Syracuse University's Athletic Department. Responsibilities included game preparations for winter sports (Women's Ice Hockey) and the beginning of spring sports (Men's/Women's Lacrosse, Women's Tennis) with the anticipation of other sports that saw their seasons cancelled (Softball). It also required game day supervision in necessary set up/tear down, placement of staff, testing any audio or technical equipment, and other sport specific needs.
Non-gamedays featured facility maintenance both of athletic and department resources. With Manley Indoor Field House and Ensley Field House, both featuring indoor turf fields, as the main focus. Responsibilities to the fields included repairing the turf and ensuring the space was not overbooked by either university teams or outside renters.

2019 Season
Box Office Representative
The 2019 season was the inaugural season for the AAA Mets in the city of Syracuse, previous the Chiefs in the Nationals organization, and one that saw a record number of tickets and ticket packages sold. As a Box Office Representative, I worked nearly every Mets' home game selling day of and future game tickets to fans coming to the window. The Mets utilized the PROVENUE ticketing system for easy and organized selling and locating of tickets for fan to ensure only a quick stop at the window before enjoying the game.
I also was able to work special events held by NBT Bank Stadium including the Mets' Open House (prior to the season), Brewfest, and the Nitro Circus.

May 2018 - Nov. 2019
Event Manager
Similar to my work at Syracuse, my time at SUNY Cortland in their Athletic Department had me manage several sport seasons as the one responsible for the operations of each sport. These sports included two seasons of Football, and one each for Women's Basketball and Women's Lacrosse. Each sport had its unique challenges as both football and lacrosse were played outside at Cortland's Stadium Complex, while basketball featured its home games in Whitney T. Corey '43 Gymnasium.

While each sport was different in its needs, the basic requirements for each included training new student staff members for that game so they would know their responsibilities and how to contact me during the game, testing audio and technical equipment, discussing with officials and getting paperwork signed prior to each game, and preparing a start bank for ticket sales that would need a balance at the end of the game to ensure all transactions were correct or why there was a surplus or deficit.
